Saheefa Jabbar Khattak (Pakistani actress), strongly criticizes Bollywood for its lack of response to the atrocities in Gaza and Palestine.
In her Instagram story, she called out the prominent actors in Bollywood for staying silent on the matter. Given the influential reach of these celebrities, their support for the cause could greatly contribute to raising awareness on a global scale.
“What are we doing about Bollywood? Our neighbouring country, where we are eager to work, and where we speak so highly of them in our interviews, NONE of them have spoken against the ongoing genocide,” Khattak highlighted in her Instagram story.
Saheefa Jabbar mentioned that Pakistani celebrities and social media users should refrain from sending birthday wishes to Bollywood celebrities. The actress pointed out that the Indian government has already prohibited Pakistani actors from working in the Indian film industry.
Additionally, Pakistani actors are seldom given substantial roles. Therefore, the Pakistani entertainment industry needs to focus on improving their skills and talents.
“It is time for us to concentrate on honing our skills, producing higher quality films and dramas. The actress also called for a boycott of major Israeli products, suggesting that people could at least boycott five key products if not all.
The recent Israeli attack on the refugee tents in Rafah has once again sparked widespread outrage globally. People sleeping in the tents killed as Israel bombed the area. Pakistani celebrities are sharing images from the recent attack on Rafah on social media.
Regrettably, not many Bollywood figures have spoken out about the issue. Among the few notable names addressing the situation are Sonam Kapoor, who shared news stories on her Instagram story, as well as Swara Bhaskar and Priyanka Chopra, who discussed the ongoing Israeli aggression in their posts.
