Jennifer Aniston recalled how Nicole Kidman helped her during the filming of “Just Go With It” alongside Adam Sandler. Aniston and Kidman, along with Sofia Vergara, Jodie Foster, Naomi Watts, and Ana Sawai, participated in The Hollywood Reporter’s roundtable discussion.
Aniston noted that friendships with other actresses have supported her during tough times. She shared that Nicole Kidman helped her a lot while they shot in Hawaii for the 2011 film.
Jennifer Aniston told Kidman, “When we did that movie in Hawaii, you helped me out on a lot of hard things that I was going through. Just to have that community, it’s very helpful.”
Naomi Watts on Her 40-Year Friendship with Nicole Kidman
Naomi Watts agreed and said Kidman had been a guiding force for her as well. Watts mentioned their 40-year friendship and how they first met at a pub. She said, “Nic has definitely been a guiding force for me. Not to date us, but it’s a 40-year friendship.”
The conversation then shifted to films, friendships, and industry experiences. Watts shared in a previous interview how their friendship began 40 years ago. They discussed movies, mutual friends, parents, schools, parties, boyfriends, and teenage stuff.
Watts recalled almost missing her bus, and Kidman offered her a ride home. She said, “Back in the Stone Age, we didn’t have cell phones or Uber accounts. And no, our moms were not waiting for us outside.”
Kidman offered to pay for a taxi and drop Watts home, even though it was 20 minutes out of her way. This generosity costs an extra $15 on the meter.
Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman shared the stage when Kidman received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the AFI on April 29.
