Netflix reveals in its second engagement report. Report includes that web series and films from India have been watched over a billion times on Netflix in 2023. The report titled ‘What We Watched: A Netflix Engagement Report’ has presented Netflix viewer data for July to December 2023.
Customers around the world watched nearly 90 billion hours of content on Netflix in the second half of 2023. From India, Sujoy Ghosh’s ‘Jaane Jaan’ was the most-watched film on Netflix with 2.02 crore views.
Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawaan’ followed with 1.62 crore views, and Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Khufiya’ garnered 1.21 crore views.
Other popular titles include OMG 2 (1.15 crore), Lust Stories 2 (9.2 million), Dream Girl 2 (8.2 million) views.
Among the series launched on Netflix, KK Menon, Babil Khan and Divyenndu’s The Railway Man topped the list.
The web series set against the backdrop of the 1984 Bhopal gas leak garnered 1.06 crore views, followed by Suvinder Vicky and Barun Sobti-starrer Kohra (64 lakh views), Raj and DK’s Gun & Gulab (64 lakh views) and Kaala Paani (58 lakh views).
Nteflix’s Report
According to the report, globally, non-English shows and movies are very popular among subscribers. They account for nearly a third of total viewers.
This includes stories in Korean (9 percent), Spanish (7 percent) and Japanese (5 percent), which were the most-watched languages after English.
The most watched film on Netflix was titled Leave the World Behind, starring Ethan Hawke and Julia Roberts, with 121 million views, followed by Adam Sandler’s animated film Leo (96 million).
The web series anime live action series One Piece has garnered 72 million views. The report also states that fan-favorite originals Tight Wednesday, Red Notice, and Squid Game continue to bring in millions of views long after they premiered on Netflix in 2023.
